Dear DREP community,

Recently, we are featuring Jackman Zhang in our DREP Australian Community Member Spotlight.

Jackman has already assisted greatly in creating designs for DREP team during his internship at DREP and now he is in his ongoing journey to spread the word of DREP after his internship.

During his time at DREP, we had the chance to chat and learn more about him and what attributes DREP has that appeal to him.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your background.

My name is Jackman Zhang and I currently study Design Computing at University of Sydney. My personal passion lies in digital technology, travel, extreme sports and performing.

How did you get to know about blockchain and cryptocurrencies?

In early 2018, I read upon the news of Bitcoin price going down from roughly 20,000 USD. I got so interested and started to read more into this technology. I personally think blockchain will become prevalent in the future and right now it requires some testing opportunities.

Can you share with us how you got to know about DREP?

I started to look for internships in blockchain start-ups and found DREP job posting. I looked it up and found that they have established partnerships with HarkHark, the takeaway APP I use here in Sydney. Therefore, I applied and here I am.

Which point about DREP is the most attractive for you?

DREP is a very dynamic team with young and ambitious individuals. I felt motivated ever since the first day I joined the team.

For me, the most important fact about DREP is that the team has tangible connection and partnerships with existing companies such as Yeeyi.com and HarkHark. I saw that both Xiaolong and Momo, two co-founders, visited Australia to talk with enterprises and companies to develop use cases. This especially makes me feel down-to-earth and sincere.

What is a typical day like for you?

It is quite simple. Apart from school hours, I usually spend time reading, doing sports and working on my design pieces.

I take my personal career development very seriously. Since my internship in DREP, I have been looking into how to create better designs to serve the purpose for mass adoption of blockchain technology. There are lots of good cases by different projects and good content to consume from Medium and Pinterest. I browse around those sites very often.

What is the blockchain environment in Australian universities like?

Honestly, it is quite polarized in Australian universities. Most people heard about Bitcoin but do not know much about blockchain technology.

Those who have understood a bit are simply observing the market because they are only students and do not have lots of money to invest.

What industries do you think are suitable to adopt blockchain technology?

Just my two cents, this technology will not help much in efficiency due to its nature but it will help in data security and privacy. We live in a digital age and we need to have our data secured. The data leakage by Facebook and many prestigious companies have raised concerns and it will be a much needed solution in the near future.

Thank you Jackman for your sharing and continuous support to DREP.

However things may change, DREP has always been faithful that data interconnectivity through cross-chain technology, ease of use and user experience remain to be our criteria of the value of blockchain technology.

DREP is heading on the right track and will achieve great things. Up to now, DREP team has independently developed technical products featuring both innovation and ease of use, such as smart pipeline and DREP SDK, to make it more accessible for enterprises to adopt. We are confident that more enterprises are to join the ecosystem of DREP in the near future.
